WELCOME Welcome to the music of 2islandgirls, Kay and Kathy DaSilva, an eclectic mix of acoustic folk and Caribbean rhythms! Kay and Kathy were born and grew up in the small and beautiful island of Barbados. They began singing at an early age with their Dad who was a local island musician with a recording studio. They went on to develop a unique style that blended vocal harmonies with acoustic guitar. Performing a mixture of original and specially chosen cover favourites, they played for fun at various venues in Barbados, England, Newfoundland and Alberta over the past 25 years, while focusing predominantly on their personal and professional lives. They have lived in England, across Canada, and currently make their home with their respective families in Edmonton, Alberta. Recently, with increased vocal training and a bit of songwriting help, their musicality has risen in significance to each of them and original compositions have become the focus of their performances. Their debut CD, released in April, features a selection of songs that mirror their versatility and creativity.
